Why Juniors Matter — And What’s Holding Junior Padel Back?
With 8 courts, we wont have to choose between prioritising Adults or Juniors. There will be amazing opportunities for everyone!
Padel is growing fast across the UK — but look closer, and there’s a clear gap. Junior participation is still limited, with opportunities varying widely depending on where you are. In many cases, access is uneven — not because of a lack of interest, but because of the barriers around it.
Court time is expensive. Coaching comes at a premium. And many facilities sit within private members’ clubs that don’t always cater for younger players. So while the sport is booming, the pathway into it isn’t.
At the same time, Oxfordshire has a huge opportunity. We’re already home to some of the most exciting junior talent in the country, including the top U14 girls and U16 boys, based on Lawn Tennis Association and International Padel Federation rankings — as well as 5 of the 17 GB players from last year’s World Cup in Spain.
That’s not normal.
With the right facilities and support, this county has the potential to become a true hub for junior padel in the UK.
We’re also lucky to have Smash Padel in Bicester — a brilliant club doing things the right way, and a great place to get children started.
But one site isn’t enough.
Padel is an incredible sport for children. It’s fun, safe, and sociable. It builds confidence, teamwork, and decision-making, and creates a more level playing field where players don’t need to rely on size or strength to succeed.
It’s also a sport where more mixed play is possible, helping create a more balanced and inclusive environment from a young age.
At Eynsham Park Padel Club, we’re focused on changing the pathway
• Discounted junior court access
• Subsidised coaching through sponsorship
• School outreach programmes
• A genuinely family-friendly environment
• A strong junior social scene
This isn’t just about participation. It’s about creating opportunity.
Because if children can access padel early, they’re far more likely to stay in the sport, building confidence, fitness, and lifelong friendships along the way.
And if we get this right, Oxfordshire won’t just produce talent, it can become one of the leading centres for junior padel in the UK.
That’s the opportunity.
The site is currently occupied by derelict buildings and areas of redundant hardstanding and has been abandoned for more than seven years. Our proposed padel club represents a sensitive and positive repurposing of this stunning plot, transforming an unused brownfield site into a vibrant, well-maintained and community-focused sporting destination.
