Our proposed club will be created on a previously neglected brownfield site — The Eynsham Sawmills, located between Long Hanborough and North Leigh — thoughtfully reimagined into a high-quality sporting destination that sits naturally within its surroundings. The site has been carefully selected for its accessibility, generous space and clear potential to be transformed into something genuinely special.

During West Oxfordshire District Council’s “Your Place, Your Plan” consultation, landowners and stakeholders were invited to put forward sites for future development. While many sites were suggested for housing, employment and other uses, the former Eynsham Sawmill was the only site identified specifically for leisure and community recreation. This clearly demonstrates that the site is already recognised as the most appropriate and logical location to deliver new sports infrastructure for the local area.

At the heart of the site will be a purpose-designed clubhouse, perfectly positioned to overlook the courts and act as a natural meeting point for members, families and visitors alike. Whether arriving on foot, by bike or by car, the journey into the club will feel intuitive, safe and welcoming, setting the tone from the moment you arrive.

The wider site layout has been designed with care, balancing high-quality sporting facilities with considered landscaping to soften the environment and enhance the overall experience. By repurposing a long-disused site, the club represents a positive and sustainable regeneration that brings new life, activity and community value to the area.

This is not about overdevelopment, but about careful transformation — turning an underused space into a well-designed, sustainable facility that adds lasting value to the local area.

The site is currently occupied by derelict buildings and areas of redundant hardstanding and has been abandoned for more than seven years. Our proposed padel club represents a sensitive and positive repurposing of this stunning plot, transforming an unused brownfield site into a vibrant, well-maintained and community-focused sporting destination.
